The Addressable LED Driver is a hands-on soldering project designed to demonstrate how WS2812 protocol works using discrete logic. Three buttons control individual color channels while an oscillator generates precise timing pulses that a counter sequences into 24-bit data frames. As logic gates shape and combine these signals, LEDs display mixed colors without any microcontroller, visualizing how digital circuits can replicate software functions through hardware alone.

How it works ?
The circuit generates precise timing pulses using an oscillator and counter to create a 24-bit data stream. As it runs, three buttons select color channels while logic gates shape the pulses into the exact timing WS2812 LEDs need, showing how discrete components work together to replicate what microcontrollers normally handle through software.
Perfect for learning soldering
This one is a tad weird, but it is still good to Learn proper soldering on a PCB designed for it: ENIG surface finish, well-spaced through-hole pads, and clear component designators help you understand the relationship between board layout and assembly quality.
