The Electronic Dice is a hands-on soldering project designed to demonstrate how random number generation works using digital logic. When shaken, a tilt switch activates a 555 timer that rapidly cycles through a CD4017 decade counter. As the oscillation slows, LEDs illuminate in sequence before landing on a final dice face, visualizing how timing circuits create unpredictable outcomes from deterministic components.

How it works ?
The circuit generates random dice rolls using a 555 timer and CD4017 decade counter. When shaken, a tilt switch triggers the 555 oscillator, which rapidly cycles through the decade counter's outputs. As the oscillation slows down, the counter skims through each number before finally landing on one of six faces, lighting the corresponding LED pattern to display the roll.
Perfect for learning soldering
ENIG surface finish, well-spaced through-hole pads, and clear component designators.
